I almost ran face 1st into this bears butt before I noticed it about 9:30 on a Saturday morning. I was reading some notes as I walked down the trail and looked up about 15 feet from its hind end as I did a double take. I noticed the bear who was dining on damp fresh grass at the same time it saw me. All I could think of was, “OH CRAP!”, before I turned and walked briskly back the direction I came to my truck and my camera.

I was thinking afterward, what if I had not looked up. What a surprise that bear would have had. Goosed while having breakfast, although I am sure there would have been some serious repercussions afterward.
