Greater Vancouver’s transit system users can now use their Facebook account to access bus route information.

According to details on the the Translink web site,”Next Bus on Facebook also allows the user to tag their favourite stop and route combinations for easy mobile access without having to remember the unique five-digit bus stop code.” Translink also states that,” Facebook members can get the information via SMS messaging service as well as online, by texting TransLink (the application name) and their tag to FBOOK (32665).”

According too sources the text service currently receives 8,000 requests a day and since its launch in December 2007, it has processed over 500,000.

Now if they could just improve the rest of the transit services…
